James Horner is indeed a very talented guy (albeit not quite up to Hans'
standards). In my opinion, what he tends to do is produce some ground-breaking
work about once every three years, and then spends the succeeding three
or so years turning out music which is a carbon copy of it. His ground-breakers,
in case you're interested, are (in my opinion) Star Trek II, Cocoon, Field
of Dreams, Glory, and Clear & Present Danger. Look at the two movies he
has done after each of these, and you'll find carbon-copy scores. It's not
necessarily a bad thing: as long as he keeps up his three year rota, and
doesn't run out of ground-breakers. He does have a nicely distinctive style,
too, with little flourishes all of his own (even my ignoramus brother recognisees
his stuff when I've played it, because of the occasional gentle bass "booms"
he likes to make).
Incidentally, might someone be able to tell me why Ennio Morricone hasn't
got a single Oscar on his shelf, whilst Alan Menken has three?
Do any of you have Oscar hopes for this year? (It goes without saying, I
presume, that Hans is at the top - but what for? Is "Drop Zone" eligible?).
I've been friends with Hans for years and so far, haven't pissed him off yet!!!! CHEERS!
brilliant composer
Words cannot describe Hans Zimmer. His music describes him.
Listen to his music and you will know who Hans Zimmer is.
Keep up the good my friend.
Your true fan,
Nathan Benn
Indeed, I greatly appreciated Zimmer's Lion King soundtrack, but after watching Crimson Tide for the second time, I am truly a fan. Though my favorite soundtrack(s) will probably be those from Star Wars, by John Williams, the power of Zimmer's Crimson Tide has made me a fan.
Hi! I need help! I am looking for the soundtrack of Days of Thunder, but
I can't find it anywhere.
Is there anyone who can tell me if and where it is available?
Thanks a lot!
Marty
I think Hans is great and it is really nice to see others think so to.
Happy Christmas!!!
<pointing frantically upward> He signed it! He signed it!

I got hooked on Zimmer when I heard the Rainman theme. I have been hooked on him since. He is the best.
I really love Hans Zimmer scores! That is the only kind of music I listen to. His use of drums are really great.
I´m a avid Zimmer-Fan since "The Power of One". Only listen to the last 98 Seconds of "The Lion-King" and you will know why Hans Zimmer the "SCORE-KING" is. It´s one of the best Score-Endthemes in the Movie-History ! I arrange music myself, and Hans has inspired me.
Your true fan,
Thilo v. Selasinsky
What about K2 ? ...
Hans rules and thats all there is to say about that!
Zimmer rules, The Lion King Rules, Lebo Morake rules, Elton John rules, RotPL rules, hell... Anything TLK related rules.
Long live the King!
Hakuna Matata!

I first heard Rain Man, watched Driving Miss Daisy, Black Rain, and then
started buying Hans' soundtracks as soon as they were available, and don't
mind not seeing the movies. I now have 30 CDs by Hans. I'm still trying
to get copies of A World Apart and the Fruit Machine compilation after three
years.
I've thought of contacting Hans (is that possible?), Swartz-Gorfaine agency
or studios to get full copies of the bastardised commercial releases. My
ambition is to work with Hans on post-production on a future movie - maybe
my own. I've always told people that I don't have a favourite artist or
am a fan of anyone. However, out of the 300 CDs (and others) that I have,
Hans Zimmer has his own section; with this little litany, I guess I would
now have to think of myself as a f##, student of Hans' inspiration. I hope
somebody has more active interest than I do, so that I can increase my appreciation
of Hans, and not have to feel embarrassed everytime I make a scene at Hans'
name appearing on screen credits.
Sincerely,
Chris Caine (not the director).
Just adding a few more details. And just to invite anyone to debate the comparison of his soundtracks. Am I doing this the right way? I'm 1 day-old on the internet! Cheerio, and keep on converting the lost to Zimmer's cure.
Two songs on the Cool Runnings soundtrack made me an immediate fan of
Hans Zimmer. Then I bought the BACKDRAFT soundtrack... and the themes and
energy of the music has not left my mind.
He is a master film composer.
Thanks for creating this page which brings light to this great talent.
music score
Do you know his secret ?
I think I do:
"You have to be yourself."
I would have to say that Hans Zimmer is defenitely one of my top 5 film composers and an extraordinary talent indeed.
I'm a great fan of mr.Zimmer. His work is really good. I would like to
mention "Blackrain", "Green Card" and "Rain man". I would like to recommend
all his available material.
Greetings goes to Jon Aanensen for great information.
I have been a fan since the first time I heard "You're So Cool." As I was watching Crimson Tide, I thought that the music was the best thing about it. I waited for the credits and was surprised to see that Hans Zimmer wrote the music! And the last time I went to see a movie, two of the previews used Hans Zimmer's music. "White Squall" used the "Crimson Tide" music, and "Two if by Sea" used "You're So Cool" from the "True Romance" soundtrack. Thanks for the music Hans!
I've had the pleasure of using Hann's work from "The Lion King" soundtrack, as a musical backdrop to a large fireworks production. Between the fireworks and the music, it was pure joy; truly a treat for the eyes, ears, and soul! This summer when you attend your local community's firework show, take "The Lion King" score along with you and enjoy the magic!
Rock onward!
His music is awesome! It is great to listen to when studying. His music is powerful, but yet gentle and relaxing. Allowing us to come away humming.
It's great Stuff.
I must say that my first Zimmer experience was with the film Crimson Tide. I was touched by the victory theme that occurs a couple times in the movie. I immediately bought the soundtrack and play track 5 very often as a source of motivation. Thank you for a very nice page, which I will use to discover Mr. Zimmer's brilliance. What is his best soundtrack? E-Mail me if you want to suggest any for me to purchase...
My love of Hans Zimmer started with "You go, we go" on "Backdraft." I'd never heard music before that could capture the sheer power of a scene like that piece. There are many great composers in Hollywood but none that create music with such a visceral impact. Hans Zimmers music hits you right in the gut.
I'm a great fan of Hans Zimmer, and think his work is absolutely fantastic!
I love both the Power of One and The Lion King, as well as Drop Zone. It
was a great film and the soundtrack blew my mind away! An fabulous score,
especially since it was written and recorded by synthesisers. I have just
started writing music with a keyboard and computer and the Drop Zone soundtrack
has given me great inspiration!
Here's to another dozen films with a Hans Zimmer soundtrack!
I first remember Hans's music from Rain Man and Backdraft. but it's not until TLK that i bought his music. I was so moved by his score.Last year I went to see Crimson Tide not knowing it was Zimmer's music beforehand..And as as soon as the first notes started i knew it was him..It was an emotional rollercoaster ride I bought the soundtrack this week and i can't get enough of it... This is a great place to visit on the Net. I thought I was the only Zimmer fan! If you like to chat about Zimmer's music or anything else you can e-mail me.
Zimmer is a dead set legend..All the way............
ZIMMER´S GREAT
Having two childern, and after listening to "The Lion King" over 100 times, I am now qualified to write the score for "Lion King II."

Hello, i'm a great fan of all the people that loves the soundtracks,
specially Horner, Williams, Elfman and Zimmer. I think that the best
soundtrack ever made by Hans Zimmer is Crimson Tide. I would like
to reccomend you to visit my
James Horner page.
I have loved Hans Zimmer's music ever since the first time I heard it.
It's nice to know I am not alone. I hope to one day own all the sound tracks
he has worked on.
See the IMAX film "Serengeti." Very powerful and moving score. Maintainer's note: The score for "Africa: The Serengeti" is actually Zimmer's score to "The Power of One"; but your adjectives still apply. :) -BT
I love Crimson Tide and Broken Arrow Soundtracks.
Let me know what other works of Zimmer are similar.
Hans Zimmer is the greatest film composer to ever walk through showbiz. His music not only captures the theme of the movie, but also the accompanying emotions portrayed by the characters. Zimmer's unique style of expanding upon a character's personality rather than their outer appearance is matched only by such composers as James Horner and Jerry Goldsmith. I can never truly praise Hans enough for his great work. Hats off to Hans Zimmer.
I've been a fan of Hans Zimmers for a few years. Now, everytime I go to
the movies and hear an awesome soundtrack, I am never surpised to find out
its one of his.
I think its great to have this page on the web.
Hi Hans, hi everyone,
as my life goal in professional terms is to become a film composer in Hollywood myself I am very excited to be able to use Hans Zimmer as a role model as he started off in the German music market, eventually ending up making such wonderful Hollywood movie scores as "Lion King", "House of the Spirits" (I especially like "Pedro And Blanca") or "Crimson Tide". I am just in the process of working myself through the ecellent book "On the track" from Fred Karlin and Rayburn Wright. I want to strongly recommend it to anyone who´s got similar plans to mine.
I´d be pleased to hear from anyone who wants to get in touch. Thanks to my actual position (Assistant to the President of PolyGram Germany) I can also provide you guys with some interesting infos about the German music and film market or major artists, in case you´re interested. So please let´s chat, you can reach me under my Compuserve address @100430,3220.
So long, see ya around

Drop Zone is the most complex. You may not believe that, but it's true. edwin
Congratulation for Hans and his team.
And for you for you page.
I discovered Hans' music 8 years ago with Paperhouse.
I now own 27 of his scores and the others (with too few music) on tapes.
I always thought i was the only one who listened to him.
Now i have discovered your page and it's a great satisfaction to see other
people
sharing the same passion and the same feelings for his unique and gifted
talent.
Do you know that? :
- Everyone knows the megahit "Video killed the radio star" by The Buggles
in the early 80ies.
But has anyone ever watched carefully the video?
Look at the young keyboard player in the background and you'll see what
Hans looked like
in his late teenagehood.
- At the beginning of the movie "Sniper" (Luis Llosa,1993), when Tom Berenger
rescues
a member of his military team, the music suddenly go lyrical, symphonic,
moving.
I don't even remember if he is credited for this 5 minutes work.
I don't :
- His he scoring "The Fan", the new Tony Scott movie with Robert de Niro
scheduled for late June?
- Has he any plans for a "solo" album appart of the movie music businnes?
- Four years ago he was about to score "1492, Conquest of Paradise". Vangelis
composed one of its
greatest music ever, has Hans work on it?
Probably the most invigorating music to listen to for myself anyway...My personal favorite, Black Rain...
Finally! Someone who is bringing symphonic quality electronic music into the lime-light.
Hans Zimmer is great ! I love all of his songs !
Did you see "The Broken Arrow , The Assasin , the Crimson Tide" ?
You 'll understand , why I'm telling this !
My brother first introduced to Hans Zimmer by pointing put his name at
the end credits of a movie. After that I was hooked and I always 'borrow'
his Zimmer CDs.
If Hans would like to try out new rythms or styles, tell him to come to
Fiji or better still, go to my wife's homeland the Cook Islands, where he'll
see dancing, rythm and drumming like he's never imagined.
Hans will also be glad to know that he has a very large fan base in Fiji,
and he really should come visit and maybe give a concert.
Hans is cool... and he's already there! I need to get there too!
I compose for images and I am also one of the hottest slide guitarists in
the world! If any body knows of a good agent to get film work (I'd settle
for few commercials at this point!) and if you could turn me on to them
I would greatly appreciate it. Lets talk, maybe we could work something
out!

I think Zimmer did a great job with the Lion King. I have the CD,
it's so great!
Have a nice day!
I would like to hear more scores recorded in Dolby Pro-Logic compatible
formats. If you would like information on the latest matrix encoding developements
please don't hesitate to e-mail me. I also specialize in adapting m-s mic
arrays to matrix encoders as well as perceptual dominance processing...long
live the matrix!!

I loved the 'Lion King' and 'The Power of One' soundtracks. If anyone
has, or knows where to find on the net, the score to 'Circle of Life' (choral
version) I would really love it!!
Thanks

Thank you.
Busa le lizwe, Hans Zimmer! Busa ngu xolo!
It`s a cliche, but I also love Zimmer. I think that he has made many of
the films he has worked more enigmaticly powerful and sentimental than many
composer`s could be worth. He`s been reposible for getting to many audiences`
hearts and nerves on the cha racters or sequences on his projects.
It`s nice to know that there are a fantastic and select group of people
who can appreciate his work. More people listen to film music than any other
music in the world anyway (through the films themselves of course), but
for people to make a music industr y out of film-scores is more exciting.
I think that film music is the most diverse and underestimated music in
the world which (due to it`s psychologiacl laws) achieves hieghts of passion
in it`s listeners.
The critics underline Black Rain as the start of the `Zimmer` phase, but
I think that later in his work with Africa and especially Backdraft did
he hit the mark by mixing choral effects with percussion and techno oriented
incidental music.
I don`t know if anyone else agrees but he has (until Broken Arrow) lost
some steam with Crimson Tide and Drop Zone.
Hans Zimmers music is so camp(sometimes)its got a stage musical feel to
it.
This is shown most definatley in Scars caberet number in The Lion King.
Then at other times its so noble, thats when I sat in the cinema
roaring(slight tear to ones eye),whilst the other kids sat throwing popcorn
and jumping on the seats.(Lion King)
I buy anything I find on C.D,(abit like John Barry, oops!!sorry)
A MEGASTAR IN MY BOOK!
Hi
I hope there will be a "best of Hans Zimmer" soon!
take care
Marc
Hans zimmer is great, and I'm glad I found this web page.
My favourite is Greencard and Lion King
The one soundtrack that Zimmer didn't receive an oscar for was Backdraft. He at the very least deserved a nomination for such a mind capturing and emotinal score.
LOVE YOUR MUSIC
Hans Zimmers "Backdraft" and "Crimson Tide" scores are in my opinion on
a par with the finest movie scores that such geniuses as
John Williams or Elmer Bernstein. Kudos, Bravo and thank God for Mr. Zimmer!!!!
I have about 20 Zimmer's scores. I'm looking for:
Paper House \ Burning secret \ Regarding Henry
If someone could help me, send me e-mail: dupuis@vworlds.it
I buy compact discs (write the price of the label) or I would like a copy
on tape from the compact disc.
Thank you to all Zimmer's maniacs.
Since middle school I have had an interest in soundtracks. Over the years I have collected many CD's, and recently I have begun to collect Zimmer's soundtracks. The one that caught my ear was Crimson Tide. The first time I heard the score, goose bumps ran down my whole body. I ran out and bought the soundtrack, and since then I have listened to it almost daily. Being a flute and piccolo player, I was amazed at the sound of the brass. I don't think I have ever heard anything like it. Mr. Zimmer is a very gifted man and I hope to hear more of his music in the future.
Wasn't the music for THE ROCK just amazing? Without the music the film would have had no nail biting tension and would just have not held the same excitement for the viewer (and listener of course).
The music for The Rock is amazing... im 15 years old and i am going to
try to make a movie (to the extent of my editing abilities). I have a summary
written so far. Just finished it tonight. I'm planning to borrow the music
from the rock in it since i don 't actually have a composer. If anyone wants
to see it just mail me.
Oh yeah i made this video for school.
IT IS VERY GOOD
it is like, mission impossible/huck finn.
believe me, its a lot more than you expect. :)
if you want to see the video, mail me too.
Ben
Thank God for Hans Zimmer! His work especially Crimson Tide and Backdraft exhibit genius. I hope to enjoy his talents for a long long time.He is probably the only colleague of John Williams who has an equal genius for composing and orchestration. Kudos and thanks to Mr. Zimmer--TCH
I collect Zimmer's CD's. Anyone's that I can find, mostly the movie soundtrack's. I love the way he composes, it rocks. So far Crimson Tide is my favorite but The Rock is close. If you want to talk write me at my email address.
Hans Zimmer is the best!
Zimmer is a dead set legend.
Hail the man with the golden gift of music creativity!
Thank God I'm not the only one. Everyone thinks I'm nuts. I could listen to the Soundtrack from Backdraft over & over & over & over............
He is simply the best composer for soundtracks beside John Williams...
My favourite soundtrack that he has done so far is from Broken Arrow. The
melody is sooo different
I didn't realize that Hans Zimmer created awesome music until I discovered that my 4 favorite tapes were composed by him.
i love your song, your style.
This "Worship Page" to Hans' is very sweet- I'm sure he's quite flattered/embarassed/fearful when he reads his fan mail. Check out THE FAN--which is exceptional.
Please ,e-mail me your comments about "The Rock" score.
My favorite Hanz scores are "The Lion King", "The Rock", and "Crimson Tide"!
A fan thanks to Chris! (Well, HZ deserves some credit, too!)
>< liljane
Among Williams, Poledouris, Horner, Goldsmith, and Sylvestri,
Hans Zimmer has climbed to the top amongst my favorites.Drop Zone,
Crimson Tide, and the few tracks off of "A league of their own" are
highly incredible. Great to see other devoted fans of Hans out there.
What a Music !!!
Zimmer is without a doubt, the greatest contemporary film composer - and I can't wait for a complete CD collection of all his scores.
I first discovered Zimmer probably in 1990 with his score for
Days of Thunder. Unfortunately it was never released =(, but
it caused me to look for other scores he'd done. The first I
bought was probably Rainman. I am also into James Horner and
Jerry Goldsmith. Also, should anyone want to know, I have
several numbers and addresses where "fellow Zimmer fans" can
look for his more rare releases (like Regarding Henry).
Other than that, I'd just like to add that I think Zimmer is
one of the world's great composers for any type of music.
p.s. I'd love to see him kick John Tesh and Yanni's asses.
Number one: Hans Zimmer, Crimson Tide - the best of all
Number two: James Horner, Apollo 13 - incredible
Number three: John Williams, Star Wars - Darth Vader lives
Number four: Danny Elfman, Batman - go home, Goldenthal
Number five: Alan Silvestri, Predator - one ugly mother...
Any comment, please do!
Well, I like your music in Backdraft, Lion King...etc.
Hans Zimmer is a positively brilliant composer. I also am a composer and I am very attracted to and blown away by his integration of synthesizers with a traditional orchestra and choral groups. It's always been my dream to do music like that and he has been quite an inspiration for me.
Holla...
a word to Hans Zimmer :
Keep up the great work!!
What is "The Fan" btw?

Pure genious!
I should say - Zimmer is probably the best world's composer now.
I am a total zimmer fan.Coming from South Africa ,his 'tribal' sounds
are well known here.I although prefer his digitally composed music ,especially
Point of no Return and Black Rain.
It is near impossible to get hold of his cds here.If anyone has any details
of how I can order his music ,please e-mail me. Also if you want any details
about South Africa with respect to the Lion King and The Power of One ,I
will try help. When I played his music in a cd shop ,people immediatly asked
about i t.-Proof his music is awesome.
Hans Zimmer is the most incredible composer alive today. He takes so many different styles of music and composes incredible breath-taking scores. I am a composer, and I am very inspired by his work and amazed by his talent. I would be honored to somehow collaborate with Hans someday in the future! It would be a dream come true.
I have followed the work of Hans for many years, and he still amazes me.
His music communicates passion and power, yet can also have such a gentleness.
I hope to someday work with Hans.

Does anyone know where to find the Days Of Thunder score???
Hans Zimmer's music has been a true inspiration for me. I'd like
to thank him for breaking the (classical) barrier in musical score.
Great site! - Thanks must go to all involved (esp. HZ) :)
Are any of HZ's or Mark Mancina's scores available in manuscript form or
MIDI files? Please email. Happy Listening!
What should I say ? Zimmer is the best composer.
Lets hope that Days of Thunder and Bird on a wire
will be released in the near future.
Listening to Hans Zimmer in the morning before going to work is better than eating breakfast.

Do Hans Zimmer use synthesizers to make his music?
This is the first time I find a Zimmmer's page on Internet...
My Compliments !! I like very much to collect soundtrack recordings (CD)
and H.Zimmer is one of my favourite composers
(John Williams and Maurice Jarre are the others)...
In these days, I'm looking for the original score of "The Rock";
I really hope to have it in a few time.
Ok. Best Regards to everybody from

I've been a Zimmer fan for years! I'm looking for a "best of" or
complete works. I'll pay good money for something like that.
Thanks for having such much stuff about my favorite composer Hans Zimmer.
My friend Jon Aanensen has written and told me a lot about his work. I just
have to say that he is a brilliant artist, and recommend all his work. My
favorite soundtrack si "Fools i n a fortune". Maybe I tell you more about
that record some other time. Finally I hope Hans will keep up the good work.
I love his music
I think Hans' scores are great. My favourite is Crimson Tide. I am also a big fan of Mark Mancina.
He's one of the best composers, along with Ennio Morricone, John Barry and Vangelis. Some of my favourites include Point of No Return, The Power of One and True Romance.

Have any of you noticed that many of the trailers for new movies
are using the sound bites from the Backdraft soundtrack?
Anyone know why?
In the film trailer for "Independence Day" they have the music from "Crimson Tide" and in "The Jury" the have the music from "Black Rain". Neat, huh!

I would like to congratulate Hans Zimmer with his latest rewiew. I'm thinking of the album "The Rock", and "Broken Arrow". I recommend the albums to all other Zimmer fans.
Hanz Zimmer has to be rated as one of the greatest composers ever, and easily the best of our time. From the soothing and wonderous music on The Lion King, to the energy filled sountracks of Crimson Tide and The Rock, no one else comes close.
Hans Zimmer is awesome! The Radio Flyer soundtrack rules!
I bought the Power of One soundtrack simply because I liked the movie and fell in love with it. I forgot about it for a while though until Lion King came out and I bought that soundtrack. When I listened to it for the first time, I was struck with how much it reminded me of Power of One and I began trying to compare them to see why they sounded so similar. It was then that I noticed Zimmer's name, and since then I've been a fan. The Power of One is still my favorite though.
Whoa, its all said in this guest book. Hans - keep on writing :-)
I am a fellow composer and if you guys are aswell then I would
like to share some music with you. My e-mail addrss is here so
just call me.
Cheers.

There is no greater feeling than hearing the them from Crimson Tide blare through the ID4 trailer in a THX auditorium.
I love the lion king It gave me goose bumbs. it made me feel all funny inside
I must admit I've become a great admirer of Hans' music and as an aspiring
film composer myself I study his CD's to see what I can learn from him.
I find myself often making a list of the 10 best film composers still in
the business and each time a new Hans Zimmer score comes out, he moves up
on my list. here is where it stands now. (based on entire body of work)
1. John Williams
2. Alan Silvestri
3. James Horner
4. Hans Zimmer
5. Jerry Goldsmith
6. David Arnold
7. Danny Elfman
8. James Newton Howard
9. Dennis McCarthy
10. Elmer Bernstein (30 Years ago He'd be No.1)
There are others who didn't make the list (they're in my top 20) I'd love
any feedback if you agree/disagree

True Romance = The best lovestory since Romeo & Juliet
My big dream is to become a filmcomposer. Hans Zimmer is a man with creative ideas that inspire me a lot.
I admire his work very much. Especially in the movies, The Lion King and Thelma & Louise. I hope he will continue his fantastic music
